The new temple complex is being reconstructed in accordance with our Saiva Samaya Aagharnam (religious requirements), complete with facilities for spiritual and cultural development. Among others, it encompasses the presiding deity Lord Thirurnurugan in the Garbhagraharn with separate sanctum sanctorum for Lord Ganesha, Goddess Ambal, Lord Idurnban and the Navagrahas, as well as separate quarters housing a meditation room, multipurpose hall, an administrative office and meeting room, staff quarters, guest rooms and a café serving vegetarian cuisine. The temple complex is set to serve as a centre of spiritual and cultural solace to not just the Hindu devotees living on the island, but also to the Hindu tourists and business people from the world over who frequent the island.
The current overall progress is at 40% completion stage, requiring an estimated RM 3.5 million for successful completion of the project.
In December 2021, Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (Inland Revenue Board) approved the tax exemption for donors who donate towards "Tabung Pernbinaan Kuil Thirurnurugan". This approval further reinforces the transparency and accountability for the funds donated towards the temple reconstruction, whereby every cent received is audited and accounted for, and will be submitted to IRB as part of our obligation and the statutory requirement.
With the grace and blessings of Lord Thirumurugan, the working committee foresees the completion of works and consecration ceremony to be held by the end of year 2023
